Happy New Year!!

As with the start of every new year, it’s a perfect time to reflect and celebrate the weddings of the past year. 2015 was wonderful and Andy and I felt so fortunate to be a part of so many amazing celebrations of love and marriage.  I thought it would be fun to highlight a photo from each of the weddings we documented, with the exception of the few we signed non-disclosures with. The biggest challenge with this post was selecting just ONE image from each wedding. It was almost impossible!

Let’s start with Lisa & Jason… they were married at the gorgeous Ford Plantation  just outside Savannah Georgia! It was an incredibly special wedding for us because it was the third of the O’Hara sister weddings that we’ve had the honor of photographing. We adore the O’Hara’s and their families!!

Alyssa & Max (and Charlie the super-dog) had a perfect wedding day at the 1811 House at the Equinox! Janet Dunnington and her team were tireless and we LOVED working with them. Oh, and A Schoolhouse Garden’s flowers and decor were amazing!
Love birds Debora & Dave tied the knot at the super lovely and oh-so-fabulous Riverside Farm! How much do you love Debora and Dave’s boots??Tina & Ben celebrated at the top of the world! At least the top of Jay Peak Resort for their amazing day! How cute is their dog, Porter, in his little tuxedo top?Anne and Sean could not have been more fun and adorable at their New Hampshire wedding! They met at Camp Billings, which holds special significance to us, as our kids have been attending since they were littles. The beautiful bouquets were by Petals Floral Design.
Andy photographed Julia & Gary’s fabulous wedding at the 1824 House in Waitsfield. Soooo pretty!!
Marissa & Sam’s wedding festivities were at their family’s private estate in Wallingford, Vermont on July 4th! Janet Dunnington orchestrated the whole day perfectly!
Caitlin & Mike said “I do” at one of my favorite venues: Whiteface Club and Resort in Lake Placid. They braved kayaks (in their wedding finery) on the lake and paddled into the setting sun. They are sure to have so many fun adventures together!
Christina and Zach had such an amazing day at the Boston Harbor Hotel. I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful this couple and their people are!! A wedding first: After the newly weds fed each other a bite of cake, Christina turned and fed me a bite. It was hilarious and the cutest thing ever! 🙂
Allie & Mark were happily married at his parent’s home in Charlotte, Vermont. Carrie and her team from Storied Events made sure their day was so fabulous and relaxed on every level! Silver Toad’s flower designs were stunning too.

Kaitlin & An-Phong had their first look at an apple orchard and a very fun wedding following at the Barn at Lang Farm in Essex. Janet Dunnington coordinated it all with grace and the floral designs by A Schoolhouse Garden were lovely!

Ruthie & Stuart were married in a field with horses and amazing views of the surrounding mountains at Top Notch Resort in Stowe.  You can’t beat that. Or the lovely lovely flowers by Danika Johnson aka Blomma Flicka.

Alexa and John had a spectacular day at the All Souls Interfaith Gathering.  Her mother hand-made her gown and I was obsessed. And John’s mom, Sharon, complimented the flowers by In Full Bloom with decor from her Burlington shop  Common Deer (that I am obsessed with) and it was all so lovely. Sooo much talent in that family!! Oh, and the food by Let’s Pretend was the best!!

Meredith and Penn had a completely blissful day under the coordination of Janet Dunnington Events at her family’s Vermont home near Manchester. The flowers by Nancy Bishop were over the top and the clear tent by Rain or Shine was truly incredible. I can’t wait to share this wedding with you in a later post!

Janie & Blake are the cutest sweetest couple and their families were a dream to work with! Jackie Watson and her Enchanted Events team coordinated a perfect event for them at the historic Hildene Estate. Randi Nonni aka Silver Toad’s floral designs were stunning.  Another one I can’t wait to share…. But in the mean time click HERE to see the wonderful wedding film by the fabulous Meg Simone!

Super sweethearts Chloe & Nick were married at Whiteface Club and Resort surrounded by so much love and beauty! Working with the venue’s coordinator Kristin Parker is always such a pleasure as well. And although somehow we didn’t cross paths that day, Alison Ellis’ flowers (Floral Artistry) were such a compliment to their event.

Considering we’ve been photographing weddings in Vermont for over a decade, it’s always fun to have one at a new location for us. Shelburne Museum is one of my new favorites and Meredith & Matt’s wedding day allowed ample time to run around with them to take advantage of the beautiful backdrops! Oh, and it’s always fun to photograph Blomma Flicka’s gorgeous flowers.

Carolyn & Matt’s wedding at the very grand Hermitage Club and Resort was also a new venue for us.  I loved that they took time to ride up the chairlift with their wedding party. They ended their big day with an incredible fireworks show. This couple knows how to celebrate big!! By the way, their wedding was recently featured in Vermont Bride Magazine.  Click HERE to see the feature on their blog. 🙂

Katie & John’s had the brightest and sunniest day for their wedding in Dorset, Vermont. I’m pretty sure Dorset is the most picture perfect town I’ve ever seen. And their wedding was super pretty at the Barrows House!  Thanks Janet Dunnington for another splendid event and Nancy Bishop for the stunning floral designs!

Andy photographed Sarah & Spencer’s wedding at the wonderful and picturesque Bliss Ridge in the Mad River Valley. They had a perfect autumn day for their wedding!

I flew out to Port Townsend, Washington in October to photograph a very special wedding of my cousin Johnny and his love, Sirinya.  They started their day with a small Thai ceremony, which was so very sweet.

After the Thai ceremony they prepared for their American ceremony and we met out at the beautiful Fort Worden to take photos before their more public I do’s at the Northwest Maritime Center.

Right after Washington, Andy and I hopped on another flight for NYC where we had the privilege of photographing my dear friend and Vermont Life colleague Melissa’s younger sister’s wedding in Brooklyn at a very stylish venue called the 501 Union.  I adored Julia & Conor’s willingness to brave the super chilly day and have fun with the urban back drop. SO FUN!!

We ended our season on such a high note with Caitlin & Casey’s fabulous winter-ish wedding at the Equinox.  We assumed they’d be navigating around on snowy sidewalks for their December wedding, but nature had a different idea for them. Snow or not, the Equinox is so very elegant and romantic for the holidays. Janet Dunnington Events and A Schoolhouse Gardens did a lovely job of making the whole day so gorgeous!

I can’t wait to share these memorable weddings with you in more detail!!

Love, Peace, Health and Happiness to you and yours for the new year!! xox Daria

p.s. For those of you planning a wedding for 2016 (and beyond), we still have some availability, so we would love to hear from you!

Beth and Danny were married at one of our very favorite Vermont venues, Hildene. It was Abraham Lincoln’s son’s estate in the lovely town of Manchester, Vermont. It’s gorgeous and historical and some even say it’s haunted! All we know is that it’s dreamy to work at Hildene and the backdrops for creating amazing images is endless. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite moments from Beth and Danny’s beautiful wedding day!

We’ll start with a few pretty details…

Beth was such a happy bride!

Danny and his boys prepared for the day.

I’m pretty sure that President Lincoln smiled as Beth walked by. 😉

Danny was a little excited to see his bride-to-be!!

So stunning!!

Beth + Danny really wanted to have some photos down on the dirt road. We were happy to make that happen!

I love love love this moment during the ketubah signing.

Time for the big ceremony…

Definitely one of the most amazing spots to get married!!

They really adore each other!

The newlyweds built in plenty of time for photos before their party started. This always makes us very pleased! 🙂

Cocktails in the tent!

Alison from Floral Artistry is always a bright sunshine of smiles and her flowers are always so beautiful too!!

A few fun, colorful things…

Yum!!

Beth and Danny and their loved ones really know how to celebrate to the fullest!! And one of the craziest moments I’ve photographed is the last image in this series!!

And they lived happily ever after…

xoxo

Alison Ellis - Daria and Andy,
These shots are fantastic! The colors look amazing! I remember hearing the beginning of “Eye of the Tiger” as the wedding party was being introduced in the tent. Such a fun couple.

Hope Murphy - This couple’s wedding site reminds me of your wedding site!! What a romantic wedding that was. 🙂 I love love love your pix.

Location: Quechee Inn at Marshland Farms
Flowers: Valley Flower Company

Devon + Brian were married on a gorgeous summer day at the Quechee Inn. It’s always wonderful to have a wedding where everything is on location from the getting ready to the ceremony to the cocktails and reception. The day just flows so nicely without any shuffling around. This place really does have it all too with such lovely backdrops for photos and lots of privacy from the outside world. Devon + Brian were just bubbling over with excitement about their day. Their ceremony, in particular their vows,  were so adorable with so much genuine love for one another. They had everyone in giggles several times. Even me! I hope you enjoy a selection of my favorite images from their bright and sunny day!

All kinds of pretty!

I just love the bright, cheerful colors at this wedding!

Brian quietly prepares for the day…

Devon’s room was a big getting ready party!

The flower girls did such an excellent job with the petals!

Brian spies his wife-to-be!

Here comes the bride…

Such a pretty spot for the ceremony!

Wedded bliss!

Such a vibrant wedding party! 🙂

I do love some funky old red barns! Especially when I have such a cute couple to stick in front of them!

The way the napkins were folded was cute! Being yellow made them even cuter!

Jazz hands and spirit fingers!!

Brian was a bit on the reserved side…until this dance!!!

I love it when toasts are funny, because the reactions are so great!!

Devon + Brian opted for a sundae bar instead of a traditional cake cutting. So sweet!

The parting shot…
